About Cheryl JernI have been helping people solve personal problems for over 30 years. My primary areas of expertise are: chronic illness/chronic pain; problems of aging; grief/loss; depression, anxiety, relationship issues and infertility/adoption. I work with individual adults, adolescents, elders and couples. I am both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW # 5809) and a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist (MFT # 7732), and have a PhD in Clinical Social Work. I teach at Sonoma State University in the extension division. My office is in Petaluma, CA, which covers Sonoma County and northern Marin County. I have a background in forensic mental health, women's health and working with members of the military and their families. I am currently the embedded mental health provider for the Petaluma National Guard unit. I'm a member of Petaluma Psychotherapy Associates, one of the longest established group practices in Sonoma County. We cross-consult and cross-refer, so our clients are able to benefit from a variety of specialities and viewpoints. We work as a team in situations that require multiple therapists or modalities, such as individual, adolescent or couple therapy.
